Habara gani! Kuumba habara gani!

December 26th begins the 7 days of Kwanzaa. The principle of the 6th day is creativity. I’m early with my greeting, for several reasons:
1) This is a writer’s blog, I’m in a writing/creating mood, I used the greeting principle for the 6th day.
2) Also, the Kwanzaa celebration begins much earlier than December 26. I’ve known it to begin as early as October, and I’ve known Kwanzaa celebrations in the summer.
3) I wanted to have a small discussion of the celebration.
4) I mention the celebration in “A Birthday Story”, my first published children’s book.
The greeting for each day begins with the question Habara gani (ha-bah-ra ga-ne) meaning – What is the news? This question is answered with the principle of the day – Umoja (oo-mo-jah) habara gani! The news is Unity, in the case of the first day. The other five principles are: Kujichagulia (koo-ge-cha-goo-lee-ah) self-determination, the second day, Ujima (oo-gee-mah) Collective Work & Responsibility, the third day, Ujaama (oo-jah-mah) Cooperative Economics, the fourth day, Nia (nee-ah)Purpose, the 5th day. Kwanzaa was created by Maulana Ron Karenga of US.

With the assistance of my publisher Xlibris, I launched a press release about “A Birthday Story,” in four cities on the 9th of this month; Cincinnati, Ohio, Des Moines, IA, Detroit, Michigan, and Washington, D.C. The press release were sent to the media outles in these cities and in the surrounding areas. If you see are hear the release let me know in the comment section of this blog. You’ll have my appreciation.

Happy holidays.
